The Automatic Gas Filling Press from the VEGA is designed for medium to large-sized glass manufacturing companies engaged in the production of insulated glass units (IGUs) for doors, windows, and large architectural components, with high production volume requirements.
Equipped with sensors that allow automatic recognition of glass dimensions, our solution is fully automated. The pressing and gas filling processes are performed uniformly, ensuring high-quality production for double, triple, quadruple, shaped, structural, or staggered glass units with thicknesses up to 100 mm.
The configuration includes a profile alignment conveyor a press inlet conveyor, a pressing station, and an outlet conveyor. Designed for glass up to 3000/5000 mm in length, glass transport is achieved through high-density, high-resistance polyurethane friction rollers driven by 1/2 gear motors. The fixed press panel is covered with multilayer phenolic wood panels with a cloth surface and a series of holes through which an air cushion is created to facilitate glass movement. A series of sensors determine the size of the glass to be pressed together. The movable press panel is covered with multilayer phenolic wood panels with a rubber surface. It is also equipped with a series of suction cups controlled by a vacuum pump, for securing and handling the glass during the pressing process.
The pressing process begins with the transfer of the first glass pane from the washing machine to the profile alignment conveyor for quality control. Once quality is verified, the glass is transferred into the press and secured by a glass holding mechanism. Pneumatically controlled lever systems lift the glass pane to a preset height. The movable press panel approaches and, using a series of suction cups, grips the glass holding it firmly. Thereafter, the second glass with the spacer, which has been previously applied, are measured and enter the press, where they are positioned in the same location as the first glass. At this point, the second glass pane is lifted by a lever system to the same height as the first. The movable press panel automatically starts closing until it reaches the previously detected thickness, stopping in place for gas insertion. Subsequently, the integrated gas system, after sealing the lower and side gaps, begins to nebulize gas inside the glass until it is completely filled. This process is repeated multiple times for triple or quadruple glazing. Once filling is complete, the press closes the movable panel, uniformly pressing the different glass panes together. The pressed glass panels are then transported to the outlet conveyor at a maximum speed of 40 meters per minute.
The software interface offers the operator complete freedom in managing every phase of production, ensuring practical and efficient control. Additionally, the VEGA press can be manually operated via the touchscreen, even in the event of electronic component failures. All operator commands operate at low voltage and are equipped with protections compliant with European regulations to prevent access to dangerous parts of the machine. Our machinery is CE certified.
